Born-digital files

A “Born digital” checkbox for each attached file, and fixes for narrow windows and opening from the Finder.

New

• Born digital checkbox under a file’s role, to tell a file created in digital form from a scan; it undoes like the role.
• Groundwork for exporting the description as EAD3, checked against the official schema.

Fixes

• Opening a repository from the Finder while Memory Atlas is not running now opens only the repository window.
• Narrow window: showing the sidebar closes the inspector to leave room for the description.
• The “Associate Files…” label stays whole at the window’s minimum width.

Integrity, updates, and keyboard moves

A full repository check every week, automatic updates, Move To… from the keyboard, the archivist's identity, and a diagnostic report with none of your description content.

New

• Move To… (⇧⌘M): move a unit or a branch without the mouse, finding the new parent by its title, its reference code, or those of its ancestors; each destination shows its path.
• Repository identity: the archivist’s name, which signs description events (3.7.3), and the default rules or conventions (3.7.2), now editable.
• Full integrity check every week in the background, and on demand with File › Check Repository Integrity….
• Automatic updates: Memory Atlas offers new versions and installs them only with your consent; checking can be turned off in Settings › General.
• Help › Export Diagnostic Report…: versions, the repository’s technical state, and logs, with none of your description content, for you to review before sending.
• The welcome window shows the brand wordmark.

Fixes

• Units that inherit a value changed on an ancestor are correctly marked for revalidation.
• Description events (3.7.3) are kept in the order they happened.
• A repository created by a newer version, or not written by Memory Atlas, is refused before anything is written.
• Each copy of a duplicated repository has its own rotation of safety copies.
• A network volume is mounted automatically only for files attached on this Mac; otherwise Mount Volume… asks for confirmation.
• Fixed a VoiceOver-related crash in the description header; File › Repository Identity… is back in the menu.
• Narrow windows, panels, and search: several display and keyboard fixes (Return reveals the result in the tree).

A bug-fix release: date validation, showing a first child unit, and confirmation dialogs.

• Validation (V-09): a date bound missing on the parent is treated as open, instead of wrongly reporting an error.
• Tree: the first unit created under an empty or collapsed unit shows up right away.
• Confirmation dialogs act on the value they present.

First release

The first release of Memory Atlas: the tree, ISAD(G) description, inheritance, authorities, accessions, digital objects, search, validation, and the transfer package for Obscura Flow.

Arrange and describe

• .atlas repositories, identified by a country code and a repository code; one window per repository.
• Archival tree: collection, fonds, sub-fonds, series and sub-series, file, item; reference code composed automatically.
• Drag and drop, Move Up / Move Down, tree filter, undo for every operation (⌘Z).
• ISAD(G) description with 26 elements in 7 areas, with an Essential mode (6 elements) and a Complete mode.
• Values inherited from the fonds by its descendants, with local override.

Context and files

• Authority records (persons, families, corporate bodies), index terms, and an accession register.
• Digital objects linked without copying, Quick Look preview, detection of missing files.
• Full-text search with filters, command palette ⌘K.

Preservation

• Branch validation against rules V-01 to V-14.
• “Prepare for Preservation”: checks P-01 to P-10 and export of a transfer package for Obscura Flow, transfer tracking.
• Trash with restore under a new parent; a purged accession number is never reassigned.
• Automatic safety copies, JSON export and import.
• French and English interface; signed and notarized universal app, macOS 14 or later.
